The Gigabyte Aorus 15X comes at a lower price and offers slightly lower weight which makes it a bit more portable. It has considerable performance for general use, gaming, and engineering tasks but is surpassed by the MSI Raider GE78. The MSI Raider GE78, on the higher-priced side, sports a larger screen with higher resolution and aspect ratio, more storage, and double the RAM, which translates into exceptional performance, especially for 3D rendering, machine learning, and other engineering applications. However, it's heavier and has a bulkier power brick, making it less portable. Both have a similar battery capacity, but the Gigabyte Aorus 15X slightly extends battery life during typical usage. "The Gigabyte Aorus 15X is a strong showing of Raptor Lake and RTX 4000 series. While the Aorus had trouble keeping up in older games like Grand Theft Auto V, it nudged past the competition in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It also flexed its next-generation muscle in Far Cry 6 and Borderlands 3. While we were impressed with the overall build quality and design of the Aorus 15X, the keyboard lacked good tactile feedback. The display performed well in real-world testing despite its on-paper shortcoming with brightness, but the speakers are lackluster at best."

"Performance-wise, the GE78 offers a significant boost over the GE77 for just slightly higher power consumption. You'll have to get the RTX 4080 or 4090 configurations to see the performance advantages, however, as the RTX 4070 is closer in performance to the older RTX 3080 Ti. In terms of design, some users might prefer the 16:9 minimalistic look of the older GE77 over the 16:10 retro-inspired GE78 and vice versa. We wouldn't call one better than the other in terms of aesthetics, but we'll give the edge to the GE78 for its stronger hinges and larger keys and clickpad."
