The Gigabyte Aorus 15X and Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" are both good for general use, though the Gigabyte Aorus 15X is somewhat better.
The Gigabyte Aorus 15X excels in general use due to its superior CPU, RAM, and screen quality, which contribute to a more responsive and visually appealing experience, although its portability and battery life are compromised by its higher performance components. In contrast, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" offers a larger screen and slightly better battery life, with a trade-off in performance due to its more modest CPU and RAM, making it a good choice for those who prioritize a larger display and longer battery for everyday tasks over the high performance of the Aorus 15X.

The Gigabyte Aorus 15X has a better screen than the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
When considering the Gigabyte Aorus 15X and Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" for general use, the screen on the Aorus might offer more vivid colors and sharper details due to its higher resolution and panel technology, making it suitable for everyday tasks. For engineering and design, the Aorus stands out because it likely has a wider color gamut, which is crucial for precision work that requires accurate color representation. However, for gaming and 3D applications, where high refresh rates are key for smooth visuals, both the Aorus and Lenovo's screens fall short, possibly leading to less than optimal gaming experiences.

How the Gigabyte Aorus 15X and the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" compare to other laptops
"The Gigabyte Aorus 15X is a strong showing of Raptor Lake and RTX 4000 series. While the Aorus had trouble keeping up in older games like Grand Theft Auto V, it nudged past the competition in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It also flexed its next-generation muscle in Far Cry 6 and Borderlands 3. While we were impressed with the overall build quality and design of the Aorus 15X, the keyboard lacked good tactile feedback. The display performed well in real-world testing despite its on-paper shortcoming with brightness, but the speakers are lackluster at best."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17" defies expectations. Indeed, it is just a minor upgrade over last year. However, this doesn’t make the laptop any less terrific. It’s got a great performance, courtesy of the Ryzen 5x25U processors. In addition, you get a pretty good battery life. Perhaps, the 2-hour decrease in video playback, compared to last year is not great, but still, 10 hours of Web browsing and 7 hours of video playback is okay for 17-inch notebooks."
