The Framework Laptop 16 (2023) is positioned at an upper midrange price and is known for repairability and customization options. It has a moderate amount of storage and memory, powered by a capable AMD Ryzen processor with integrated Radeon graphics. The battery life is suitable for typical use, and the laptop offers a 16-inch IPS display with a high refresh rate, making it good for both general and engineering applications, though it may only provide fair performance for 3D and machine learning tasks. It is relatively thin and light, enhancing portability, and it includes modern ports like USB4 and USB-C with charging support. The keyboard, webcam, and speakers are rated very good or best, with a high-quality build and effective heat management. Suitable for a variety of tasks, it may not be optimal for intensive gaming despite having hardware ray tracing support. Give Feedback

Allen Ngo | January 2024
"The trend towards thinner and lighter laptops is made possible by fusing more and more components onto the mainboard. The main drawback to this approach is that it limits repairability as even a small fault may require replacing entire boards. Framework is one of the only manufacturers looking the other way in an attempt to improve end-user customization and servicing. There's no question that the Laptop 16 is more user-friendly to service than any alternative, but this lucrative feature comes at the cost of size and weight as individual components must be easily replaceable."
