If you're looking for a laptop with strong performance for tasks like 3D modeling, machine learning, or gaming, the ASUS Vivobook 16 might be your preferred choice; however, it's larger and heavier, which compromises portability. On the other hand, if you prioritize a highly portable and versatile laptop that you can easily carry around and doubles as a tablet, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is designed for that purpose, but expect to pay more and possibly get less raw power for demanding applications. The ThinkPad also tends to have a more robust build quality and keyboard, making it suitable for business and travel, whereas the Vivobook might offer better value if budget is a concern. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 16 for general use, gaming and AI, and engineering and design.
The ASUS Vivobook has a screen adequate for everyday tasks, but for engineering and design, its limited color range doesn't render colors as accurately as more specialized screens, and for gaming or 3D, the refresh rate isn't high enough to keep up with fast-paced visuals. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga provides better screen quality for both general and professional use due to enhanced color accuracy and brightness, making it suitable for precise design work, but like the ASUS, its screen refresh rate is not ideal for the motion-intensive requirements of gaming and 3D applications. Both laptops are not geared towards gaming or 3D; for these activities, consider looking for laptops with higher refresh rates and advanced graphics capabilities.

The ASUS Vivobook 16 and Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga are both only fair for gaming and AI.
The ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga are considered fair for gaming and 3D due to their integrated GPUs which provide modest graphics performance; neither have high-end dedicated gaming GPUs, which significantly affects gaming and 3D rendering capabilities. Additionally, both have regular 60Hz screen refresh rates, which is lower than the higher refresh rates preferred for smoother gaming visuals, with each having decent screen quality but not the premium quality seen in specialized gaming laptops.

Although they have very similar scores, PerfectRec considers ASUS Vivobook 16 to be good for engineering and design, while the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is only fair.
The ASUS Vivobook 16, with its AMD Ryzen CPU and integrated Vega 8 graphics, as well as a large 16-inch screen with ample workspace, is favored for engineering and design tasks that require a powerful processor and decent GPU performance. Conversely, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga's Intel i5 CPU and Iris Xe graphics present a balance of performance and portability, benefiting from a high-resolution display in a 2-in-1 form factor for versatile design work, along with the mobility of its lightweight and compact build.

How the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
"The ThinkPad X1 Titanium is a showcase of what Lenovo thinks business computing will look like in the near future. People want thinner, lighter laptops with high-quality screens and enough computing power to get their work done. The X1 Titanium achieves these goals with some controversial but innovative design choices, including a redesigned keyboard and a pared-down port selection."
