The ASUS Vivobook 16 is less expensive and offers good general use performance with decent battery life, which makes it suitable for everyday tasks and light office work. It's quite portable due to its lighter weight and smaller screen. However, if you need higher performance for 3D work, machine learning, or engineering applications, the Gigabyte Aero 17 may be a better choice with its stronger processor and graphics card, despite being more expensive and less portable. The Aero 17 also offers a superior display for color accuracy and is better suited for intensive gaming, though it sacrifices some battery life and portability due to its larger size and power demands. The Gigabyte Aero 17 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 16 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS Vivobook 16, with a fair screen that balances resolution and brightness, is adequate for everyday tasks like web browsing and document editing but lacks the superior color range necessary for precision in engineering and the faster refresh rates desired for fluid gaming and 3D rendering. On the other hand, the Gigabyte Aero 17 boasts an excellent display with high resolution, brightness, and expansive color gamuts ensuring sharp, accurate visuals crucial for professional engineering and design work, yet it doesn't provide the optimal refresh rate that demanding games and 3D applications benefit from to avoid motion blur and provide smoother visuals. For general activities, both laptops suffice, but for specialized tasks, the Aero 17 excels in engineering and design, while neither is ideal for high-end gaming or 3D due to their refresh rates.

How the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Gigabyte Aero 17 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
"Not only is the Aero 17 a very good laptop for gamers but also for content creators. With the upgrade to the Intel Core i9-11980HK, Gigabyte particularly improved the system performance. In addition, the hardware package is rounded by the extremely fast SSD and 32 GB of working memory in dual-channel mode. Compared to the predecessor, the battery life is reduced only moderately, and the 4K display also basically keeps its good qualities."
