If you're looking for a more affordable option that can handle general use, the ASUS Vivobook 16 may suit your needs, but keep in mind it might have less powerful hardware and could be heavier, which affects portability. On the other hand, the Framework Laptop 16 is designed to be modular and repairable, possibly offering better long-term value with its upgradeability, and usually has higher performance components suitable for more demanding tasks like engineering, 3D work, or gaming; however, this comes at a higher price. Consider battery life and weight too; the Framework may offer longer battery life but could also be more expensive to replace parts. Give Feedback

The Framework Laptop 16 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 16 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The Vivobook's screen may not offer the clarity and crispness needed for detailed engineering tasks or the immersive experience desired for gaming due to its limited color gamut and mediocre resolution. The Framework Laptop, on the other hand, boasts a higher resolution and wider color coverage, making it superb for precision work in engineering and design, but its refresh rate isn't high enough to satisfy gamers looking for fluid motion. Generally, both displays are bright and clear for everyday tasks, but for specialized activities, the Framework is more suitable for creative professionals, while neither is ideal for gaming enthusiasts.

The ASUS Vivobook 16, with its capable CPU and ample RAM, ensures smooth multitasking and responsive general use; however, its screen quality and battery life may not impress as much as the Framework Laptop 16, which offers a superior visual experience and longer unplugged usage, alongside high portability, making it an excellent choice for those prioritizing a balance between performance and on-the-go convenience. While factors like storage and keyboard quality are decent in the Vivobook, the Framework tends to provide higher quality that justifies its standing for general use despite a possibly higher price point.

How the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Framework Laptop 16 (2023) compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
"The trend towards thinner and lighter laptops is made possible by fusing more and more components onto the mainboard. The main drawback to this approach is that it limits repairability as even a small fault may require replacing entire boards. Framework is one of the only manufacturers looking the other way in an attempt to improve end-user customization and servicing. There's no question that the Laptop 16 is more user-friendly to service than any alternative, but this lucrative feature comes at the cost of size and weight as individual components must be easily replaceable."
