The ASUS Vivobook 16 is typically less expensive and comes with substantially more storage space. However, its performance for general use, 3D/machine learning, and engineering might be lower than the more expensive Dell Precision 5470. The Dell has a much stronger GPU, better suited for tasks like video editing, CAD, and gaming, but comes with less storage out of the box. The Precision 5470 also offers a brighter screen with wider color coverage, making it preferable for visual work. While both have similar screen sizes and resolutions, the ASUS is heavier and the Dell offers a longer battery life and higher portability. Choose the ASUS if you prioritize storage and value, or the Dell for better performance and screen quality in professional applications. Give Feedback

The Dell Precision 5470 and ASUS Vivobook 16 are both good for engineering and design, though the Dell Precision 5470 is somewhat better.
The ASUS Vivobook 16, with its AMD CPU and integrated GPU, offers satisfactory performance and screen quality for engineering tasks at a lower price point, but falls short on the premium build and graphics power. The Dell Precision 5470, however, with its Intel CPU and dedicated Nvidia GPU, not only provides superior performance and screen quality suited for demanding engineering and design applications but also excels in build quality and portability at a higher cost.

The Dell Precision 5470 has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 16 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS Vivobook 16, with its fair screen, balances budget and quality suitable for general tasks and non-intensive engineering work, but its lower refresh rate and moderate resolution may not satisfy the needs of 3D applications or gaming. The Dell Precision 5470 provides a high-quality visual experience with better color representation essential for detailed engineering and design work, but it still falls short for gaming and 3D because of a refresh rate that's not as high as dedicated gaming laptops. Therefore, while ASUS is cost-effective for everyday tasks and some technical applications, the Dell excels in professional environments requiring color precision but neither are optimized for high-refresh-rate needs of gamers and 3D professionals.

How the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the Dell Precision 5470 compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
"The Dell Precision 5470 is a mobile workstation that's far more portable than most alternatives. Between its slim 14-inch design and top-quality MIL-STD 810H build, it's one of the best options around for taking professional-grade performance on the road or to the job site. There are tradeoffs for its portability, and users of the most demanding, graphics-intensive applications will need to carry something heavier. But the Dell's exceptional battery life underscores its desirability as the most portable workstation we've seen."
