Choosing between the ASUS Vivobook 16 and the ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X, consider that the Vivobook 16 is less expensive, lighter, and has longer battery life for everyday tasks but it offers modest performance. The Zenbook Pro 16X, while more expensive and heavier, provides superior performance for engineering, 3D rendering, and machine learning with higher screen resolution, color accuracy, and hardware suited for intensive gaming. If budget is a concern and your needs are more general, the Vivobook might suffice, but if performance in demanding applications and professional-grade display are crucial, the Zenbook Pro 16X is the better investment. The ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 16 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
The ASUS Vivobook 16's decent resolution and brightness make it suitable for everyday tasks, but its limited color range and lower-than-ideal refresh rate means less vibrancy for engineering/design applications, and a less smooth experience in fast-paced gaming or 3D modeling. On the other hand, the ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X boasts a higher-resolution display and superior brightness, enhancing both the precision needed for engineering/design work and the clarity for general usage; however, the lower refresh rate still holds it back for gaming and 3D rendering where fluid motion is key. Both laptops suffer in gaming and 3D work due to their subpar refresh rates, despite other screen qualities that serve well in different contexts.

Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, Yannick Khong | May 2023
"The ASUS Vivobook 16 M1605 (2023) is a budget Windows laptop. It's available with various AMD Ryzen 5000 and 7000 U-series CPUs and integrated graphics. You can only get 8GB of RAM; however, there's an empty SO-DIMM slot if you want to upgrade it. It has an FHD+ (1920 x 1200) 16:10 IPS display, a full-size keyboard with a Numpad, a 720p webcam, and Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity. Ports include three USB-As, one USB-C, an HDMI, and a headphone jack. The USB-C supports charging but no video output."
"The new Zenbook Pro 16X is more powerful, quieter and doesn't need to shy away from dedicated workstations and gamers. It is also comparatively compact, and our test device is the best Zenbook that we've reviewed so far. It seems equally suitable for content creators and gamers or anyone looking for a very powerful laptop that is still slim."
