The Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2020) with its Apple M1 chip provides excellent battery life and silent operation, ideal for long work sessions without needing a power source or a quiet environment. It operates macOS, making it suitable for those preferring or needing to work within the Apple ecosystem. On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13", with an Intel i7 processor, offers more storage and RAM, translating to better multi-tasking and storage capabilities while running Windows 11 Home, which might be necessary for certain software compatibility. The Surface Laptop also comes with a touchscreen and a higher aspect ratio that's great for productivity tasks. However, the MacBook Pro leads in terms of battery life and may have better construct quality. Both laptops are portable, but if you need a silent, long-lasting laptop, go for the MacBook Pro; for more power and a touchscreen, consider the Surface Laptop 5. Give Feedback

The Apple MacBook Pro 13 has a better screen than the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" for general use, AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Apple MacBook Pro 13, with its high-resolution Retina display and bright screen, excels in delivering crisp visuals and vibrant colors, which benefits general users and professionals working on engineering and design tasks that require precision and wide color coverage. However, its typical refresh rate limits its effectiveness for 3D applications where smoother motion from higher refresh rates is crucial. The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 balances good screen quality across various tasks, with adequate resolution and brightness for general use, and satisfactory color gamut support for engineering and design, but its standard refresh rate and unremarkable graphics handling underperform in gaming and 3D scenarios.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2020) and the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13" compare to other laptops
"The MacBook Pro 13 is still a very good subnotebook. The 2022 MacBook Pro 13 might look like recycling at first, because the device is completely identical to the old model expect for the new M2 SoC. We have to admit that we were surprised to see another iteration of the MBP 13 as well. The laptop is obviously familiar, but this does not change the fact that it is still a very good subnotebook. You get an excellent chassis with good stability, a very good display, good input devices and the new M2 chip is very powerful and efficient."
"The Surface Laptop 5 remains afloat as a solid machine. It's just not one that stands out in any particular way. Just like the last one. The biggest upgrade were some new components, but they perform in the same range as other laptops with them, and frequently at the bottom of that range. I suspect Microsoft's settings are very conservative to help keep cooling and battery life within reason in the older chassis design."
