The Apple MacBook Air has a better screen than the ASUS Vivobook 17 for general use, AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The MacBook Air boasts a high-resolution Retina display that excels in brightness and clarity for everyday tasks, while its color accuracy and wide color gamut make it suitable for engineering and design work. However, its standard refresh rate limits its capacity for smooth 3D rendering. Conversely, the ASUS Vivobook 17, with a more modest display, provides adequate resolution and brightness for routine use and engineering tasks but lacks the higher refresh rate and superior color range needed for optimal gaming and 3D visuals.

How the Apple MacBook Air (2022) and the ASUS Vivobook 17 compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Air M2 Entry is a very good, but too expensive daily MacBook. The new MacBook Air M2 is undoubtedly once again a very good mobile companion, but we are still a little bit disappointed on a very high level, which is definitely connected with the increased price point. The new chassis is extremely slim and the front edge is no problem during typing, but the bezels are pretty wide for a modern device and in addition with the vertical space required for the notch, the new Air has larger footprint than some Windows rivals."
"The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable 17-inch laptop with passive cooling. On one hand, you get a really quiet and cool work device with a good system performance, many connections, good maintenance options, speakers acceptable for multimedia enjoyment, and a sharp and clear matte FHD IPS display with the Asus VivoBook 17 (F712JA). On the other hand, the USB-C port lacks Power Delivery and DisplayPort, and the display, a higher brightness and better color space coverage."
