The Apple MacBook Air (2020) is a midrange laptop with 512 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM, housing the efficient Apple M1 processor and integrated M1 GPU, suitable for general use and light creative tasks. Its 13.3-inch IPS display offers crisp images with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, but it lacks a touchscreen. Highly portable at just 2.8 pounds and 0.63 inches thin, the MacBook Air promises up to 15 hours of typical usage on a single charge, making it great for on-the-go users. It has a fanless design for silent operation and offers excellent build and keyboard quality. However, it may not be the best fit for intensive gaming or heavy engineering software due to its integrated GPU and focus on portability and battery life over raw performance. It comes with MacOS pre-installed, two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt support, and a backlit keyboard. If you prioritize portability, long battery life, and a high-quality display within a midrange budget, this MacBook Air could serve you well for general computing tasks and light creative work. Gaming & AI:
3.4
The MacBook Air (2020) is considered fair for 3D largely because its built-in Apple M1 GPU, while competent for everyday tasks, lacks the power required by demanding 3D applications, and the screen's refresh rate is standard at 60Hz, which doesn't provide the smooth visuals preferred for high-end 3D work.

NotebookCheck

Andreas Osthoff | July 2022
"The Apple MacBook Air M2 Entry is a very good, but too expensive daily MacBook. The new MacBook Air M2 is undoubtedly once again a very good mobile companion, but we are still a little bit disappointed on a very high level, which is definitely connected with the increased price point. The new chassis is extremely slim and the front edge is no problem during typing, but the bezels are pretty wide for a modern device and in addition with the vertical space required for the notch, the new Air has larger footprint than some Windows rivals."
