The Acer Swift Edge 16 and MSI Modern 14 are both only fair for gaming and AI, though the Acer Swift Edge 16 is somewhat better.
The Acer Swift Edge 16 boasts a more powerful GPU and a higher screen refresh rate, crucial for smooth gaming and 3D performance, while the MSI Modern 14's less capable integrated graphics and lower refresh rate restrict its ability to handle intensive graphics tasks as effectively. Furthermore, the Acer features an OLED screen with better color coverage, enhancing screen quality for more vibrant visuals, although the MSI offers a decent IPS panel which is good for general use but may fall short for high-end gaming or detailed 3D work.

The Acer Swift Edge 16 has a better screen than the MSI Modern 14 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, software development, and content creation.
The Acer Swift Edge 16 has a high-resolution and bright display panel, offering crisp and vibrant visuals which make it ideal for general and engineering tasks, where detailed imagery and accurate colors are important. However, its lower refresh rate makes it less suitable for 3D applications and gaming, where smoother transitions are key. The MSI Modern 14's fair screen quality across general use and engineering signifies it has adequate resolution and color accuracy, but its screen may lack the level of precision and brilliance professionals seek, and its performance on gaming and 3D tasks suffers similarly due to a modest refresh rate.

"The Acer Swift Edge 16 is a solid super thin-and-light that pairs a large, gorgeous 16-inch display with portable design that rivals the weight of LG’s superlight Gram 16. Remarkably, Acer achieves this at a lower price point without sacrificing performance. Boring design and disappointing battery life hold the laptop back from stardom, but its rivals frequently suffer in these areas, too. That makes the Swift Edge 16 an alluring value pick."
Alexander Tozzi, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | October 2023
"The MSI Modern 14 is okay for school use. It's very compact, so it's easy to carry around. It has a sharp display, a spacious keyboard, and a reasonably large touchpad. Its Intel 13th Gen CPU and integrated graphics can handle general productivity tasks like text processing and web browsing; however, don't expect to do anything intensive like 3D modeling or physics simulations. Unfortunately, the battery lasts less than five hours of light use, and the display doesn't get bright enough to combat glare."
