The Acer Aspire 5 15 is a budget-friendly laptop that is suitable for general use. It offers a solid 15.6-inch IPS display with a standard resolution ideal for everyday tasks and media consumption. Equipped with an 8th Gen Intel i5 processor and integrated Iris Xe graphics, it’ll handle daily work and light multimedia editing, but it may struggle with intensive 3D rendering, machine learning, or heavy engineering software. It’s relatively thin and lightweight for a 15-inch laptop, enhancing portability. Its keyboard is backlit and it includes a number pad, a plus for productivity. For connectivity, it has a variety of ports including USB-C, but it lacks higher-speed Thunderbolt options. The Aspire 5 offers modest battery life, which may necessitate carrying a charger for longer days. It’s a sound choice for users seeking an affordable laptop for general purposes, light multitasking, and media playback, but it’s not tailored for high-end gaming or rigorous professional applications. Portability:
4.3
PerfectRec’s portability rating takes into account the volume and thickness of the laptop as well as its weight.

PerfectRec’s Operating Noise Score is based on fan noise measurements. Laptops with a fanless design, such as Macbooks, receive the maximum score.
General Use:
4.1
The Acer Aspire 5 15 is generally good for everyday tasks due to its adequate processor, sufficient RAM, and a display with decent quality. However, its portability is less favorable with a moderate weight, and its battery life is good but not exceptional, which may limit extended use away from power sources.
Content Creation:
4.1
PerfectRec’s Content Creation Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for photo editing, and video editing work. 3.2
The Acer Aspire 5 15 has a fair performance for gaming and 3D tasks primarily because it is equipped with an integrated Intel Iris Xe GPU, which can handle less demanding games and 3D applications but may struggle with high-end gaming or professional 3D work. Additionally, its screen has a standard refresh rate of 60Hz which is adequate for casual gaming but not optimized for the smoother visuals that more serious gamers often seek.
General Use Screen Quality:
3.2
The general use screen score is based on the screen technology, contrast ratio, resolution, brightness, color gamut and color accuracy. This score does not take into account specialized display features for specific use cases, such as high refresh rate for gaming.

NotebookCheck

Sascha Mölck | November 2022
"The Acer Aspire 5 15 is a good value office laptop with reasonable battery life. The combination of slim exterior, relatively low weight (approx. 1.7 kg) and 8 hour real-life battery runtime makes the Acer Aspire a truly mobile laptop. The modest Tiger Lake processor supports this area and simultaneously ensures an affordable price point. The Aspire produces little noise and stays cool. The screen (FHD, IPS) might not win any prizes but is entirely appropriate for the price."
