The Skullcandy Dime 2 earbuds are budget-friendly, stemmed, and have a closed enclosure design with wireless capability and dynamic drivers. They offer very good overall sound quality but lack in creating a wide soundstage. Comfort is rated as excellent, which is good for long listening sessions, and they have very good built-in controls. These earbuds are rated fair for mic quality and music listening, but they do not perform well for calls, meetings, gaming, TV, and video. They're best suited for use during exercise and air travel due to their portability and sweatproof certification. They do not have active noise cancelling, but they are lightweight at 4.5 grams per earbud and come with a charging case that provides additional battery life. The earbuds themselves have a 3-hour battery life, while the case offers 8.5 additional hours. They lack virtual surround, wireless charging, and app-based controls customization, but they support the AAC codec which is good for Apple device users. They are not optimized specifically for Android devices, do not have ear detection, and take about an hour to charge. Give Feedback

Ratings by Category

Portability:
5.0
The Portability score is based on an overall assessment that includes volume and maximum dimension of the product (and case, if relevant), and its weight. Special features like foldability for headphones are also taken into account.
Air Travel:
4.6
This score evaluates the product for use on airplanes and other similar kinds of travel. It takes into account noise reduction and portability, including case shape, case size, and weight. It also incorporates the battery life of the product, long-haul comfort, noise reduction (both active and passive), and sound quality. We generally consider wireless products to be more suitable for air travel.
Exercise:
3.8
This score evaluates the product when used for exercise and physical activity. It mainly takes into account comfort, whether or not the products are sweatproof and how secure are the earbuds or headphones while wearing them. We also consider products with wireless capabilities to be more suitable for this particular scenario
Music:
3.0
The Skullcandy Dime 2 earbuds are closed-back, which means they can isolate sound well, but this design may limit the soundstage, making it poor for a sense of spatial audio. Additionally, while the overall sound quality is very good, they do not support virtual surround, which could enhance the experience of listening to music with multidirectional sound effects.

Sound Guys

Jasper Lastoria | March 2022
"With the low price, it’s a low-risk investment. The Dime 2 is a decent set of backup buds for those times when you don’t want to risk your more upscale buds. If it weren’t for the lackluster battery life, I’d say everyone should have a pair as a spare for music."
